Terms of Service
Last updated 30 August 2026
1. Who you are contracting with
These terms are an agreement between you and Lumi Receptionist (“Lumi”, “we”, “us”), the provider of the Lumi AI receptionist service at lumireceptionist.com. By creating an account or continuing to use the service you agree to these terms. If you use Lumi on behalf of a business, you confirm you have authority to bind that business; if you use it as an individual, you confirm you are of legal age.
2. What Lumi provides
Lumi is a software service that gives your business a public booking page with an AI receptionist. It answers client questions using the information you enter, takes appointment requests, helps with cancellations and reschedules, keeps client conversations in one place, and gives you a dashboard to manage appointments, clients, services, opening hours, team availability and FAQs. Appointment requests are pending until your business approves them.
Lumi does not process, hold or transfer money for your clients’ appointments. Any payment instructions you publish are informational only and never confirm a payment or an appointment on your behalf.
3. Your account
You must provide accurate information and keep it up to date. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access.
4. Licence and restrictions
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Lumi for your own business during your subscription. You may not resell or redistribute the service, reverse engineer it, or circumvent technical or plan limits.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use Lumi unlawfully; for fraud, spam or misleading messaging; to infringe anyone’s intellectual property or privacy; to upload malware; or to probe, scrape or interfere with the security or integrity of the service. You must not use Lumi to collect sensitive personal data you are not entitled to collect, and you are responsible for having the rights and permissions needed for the content and client data you enter.
6. AI-generated content
Lumi uses AI to generate replies, suggested messages and appointment actions. Outputs can be inaccurate or incomplete and are not professional, medical, legal, tax or financial advice. You are responsible for the information you configure, for reviewing generated messages before they are sent or approved, and for the outcomes of appointments in your business. You must not attempt to jailbreak the AI or use it to produce unlawful, deceptive, hateful or harassing content. We may filter, refuse, remove or restrict content and outputs, and suspend accounts that repeatedly misuse the AI features. If you believe content in Lumi infringes your rights, email support@lumireceptionist.com and we will review it; repeat infringement leads to termination.
7. Your content
You keep ownership of the business and client content you put into Lumi. You grant us a limited licence to host, process and display that content solely to provide and support the service.
8. Our intellectual property
We retain all rights in the Lumi service, including its software, design, documentation and branding. Nothing in these terms transfers our intellectual property to you.
9. Subscriptions, trial and payment
Lumi offers three plans: Solo, Team and Business, starting at from $29/month, following a 14-day free trial with full access. Billing begins when the trial ends and renews monthly until cancelled. You may cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Prices are shown in US dollars; taxes may be added at checkout.
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Payment, billing, tax, cancellation and refund mechanics are governed by Paddle’s Buyer Terms, together with our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
10. Service level
We work to keep Lumi available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free performance. We may perform maintenance and change or improve features.
11. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access for material breach of these terms, non-payment, security or fraud risk, or repeated or serious policy violations. You may stop using Lumi at any time, and you can deactivate or permanently delete your account from your account settings. When access ends, you can export your data on request within a reasonable window; after that it may be deleted.
12. Warranties and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. We are not liable for indirect, consequential or special damages, including lost profits, lost bookings, lost data or loss of goodwill. Our total aggregate liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, death or personal injury, or any liability that cannot be limited by law.
13. Indemnity
You indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your unlawful or unauthorised use of the service, or your breach of these terms.
14. General
You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets. Neither party is liable for delays caused by events beyond its reasonable control. If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains in force. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction, without limiting mandatory consumer rights in your country of residence.
